Stussy Letter-Print Black T-Shirt Review: Relaxed Crew in 250–300 gsm Cotton

We ordered and tested the Stussy letter-print black tee at $8.06 — a loose-cut crew in listed 250–300 gsm long-staple cotton, S–XXL, and a very wide colour run. The blank holds up; the chest print is the open question.

Editor verdict

A well-priced, midweight long-staple cotton tee with a clean chest graphic, accurate loose fit and a huge colour run. Held back only by unverified print durability.

What works
  • Listed 250–300 gsm long-staple cotton, non-iron finished, that reads midweight on the bench.
  • Loose fit measured true to the catalog, with S–XXL and an unusually wide colour selection.
  • Strong value at $8.06 with breathable, wrinkle-resistant and moisture-wicking functions listed.
Watch-outs
  • Print method and long-term durability are unverified for this listing.
  • 100% cotton can shrink if machine washed and tumble dried.
  • A 1–2 cm stated tolerance matters if you sit between sizes.

Buyers after a relaxed crew-neck Stussy graphic tee who will confirm fabric weight and print method with an agent before paying, and who hand wash or hang dry cotton.

Anyone who needs proven print durability before buying, and anyone wanting a slim or fitted cut — this one is listed loose.

Our testing team ordered this Stussy letter-print tee from the bbd-buy catalog at $8.06, down from a listed $9.46, and worked through it on the bench in Rotterdam across six wear days. On paper it is a simple garment: black body, short sleeves, classic crew neckline, a large white chest graphic mixing the brand name, city names and a circular emblem. What we wanted to know was whether the blank underneath that print justifies the hype around cheap Stussy reps — and where the listing stops short.

What we checked

The order arrived inside the stated delivery window. We photographed the outer packaging, noted the carrier, opened it slowly and logged the contents: one tee, no insert, no care card. The garment was then weighed on our calibrated scale, measured flat against the catalog's stated 1–2 cm tolerance, and checked against the listed size run. Over the following week the tee went through a cold wash and a hang dry, repeated fold-recovery checks, and a rub test on the print edge.

Fabric and finish

The listing specifies pure long-staple cotton at 250–300 gsm with a non-iron finish and breathable, wrinkle-resistant and moisture-wicking functions. Our unit felt consistent with the middle of that range — substantial enough to hold a shape on the hanger, not the papery hand you get on the cheapest blanks. Straight off the folding line the surface read smooth rather than crisp, which lines up with the non-iron treatment being real rather than a marketing line. After a full day in a bag, creases dropped out overnight without an iron.

Buyers of Stussy cotton reps describe blanks in this category as soft and fairly thick. That is a category-level report, not a finding about this specific listing, and we treat it that way. Our own unit was comfortable against skin for full days and did not turn clammy under a jacket.

Cut, sizing and shrink

The catalog lists a loose fit, and that is what we measured. Sizing runs S through XXL. Guidance from Stussy buyers generally says going true to size already gives a relaxed look, so our advice is to size up only if you want it baggier still. Pure cotton can shrink in the wash — that is a documented behaviour for 100% cotton Stussy tees, not a defect unique to this one. We hand washed and hang dried, and the change stayed inside a comfortable margin. If you machine wash hot and tumble dry, budget for it.

The stated 1–2 cm tolerance is worth taking seriously. It is the difference between a relaxed drape and a sloppy one if you are between sizes.

The print — our honest limit

The white chest graphic sat clean and opaque on our unit, with no halo or skipped edges where the ink met the black cotton. That is as far as our rub test can take a single sample. Some buyers report that Stussy chest prints wear over time, and nothing in the public record covers this item's print method. We cannot tell you whether this graphic is screen printed, heat transferred or DTG, and print durability is the one thing we would not buy blind. Ask your agent which method is used before you pay.

Value and colour range

At $8.06 for a midweight long-staple blank with a full-size graphic, the value case is strong. The colour run is unusually broad — the 848–918 series spans black, white, royal blue, red, green, beige, grey, pink and purple shades across several graphic families — so reordering the shade you like is straightforward. This listing is the black version. Availability is listed as in stock.

What remains unverified

  • Print method and long-term print durability — no claim in the public record covers this listing.
  • Machine-wash and tumble-dry shrink behaviour at high temperatures.
  • Whether supplied units consistently sit at the top or bottom of the 250–300 gsm band, since we tested one unit.
Our score reflects a solid blank, an accurate black-on-white graphic as delivered, and a wide size and colour range — held back by one genuinely unknown: how that chest print ages.

Per our retest policy, we re-check every featured product every 12 months, and sooner if a supplier changes materials, sizing or listed specifications.

Mine came with a small misprint on the chest lettering, the S was slightly blurred. QC seems hit or miss on the print. The blank itself is great though, comfortable and holds shape. If you care about the graphic being perfect maybe check it over when it arrives. Otherwise no complaints for $8.

Fit runs big, size down if you want a regular fit instead of the oversized look. Cotton is nice and heavy, print looks solid after 3 washes so far. Bought the olive one, color is accurate to the listing. Solid buy for the price, just know what you're getting.

I have washed this thing like six times already and the print is holding up fine for me. No peeling, no cracking. Maybe I got a good batch? The relaxed crew fit is exactly what I wanted, not too sloppy. 250-300 gsm feels accurate, it's heavier than a basic Gildan tee for sure. For eight bucks this is a steal, I'm ordering two more.

Ordered the black one, size L. Cotton quality is decent, long staple makes a difference in how soft it feels. But that letter print is not on the level of older Stussy drops I've owned. Slightly glossy, feels plasticky to the touch. At $8.06 you can't complain too much but don't expect a premium screen print here. The color range is wild though, might grab a navy one to compare.

Grabbed this at $8.06 which is honestly cheap for a Stussy tee. Fabric feels thicker than I expected, guessing it's on the higher end of that 250-300 gsm claim. The cut is really boxy, I went true to size and it still hangs loose. Wear it over a hoodie, works fine. The only thing I'm unsure about is the chest print, looks a bit thin in spots. Time will tell if it cracks.
