Our editorial team chooses products to test from the bbd-buy catalog. We order the item, pay for it, and log the order in our shared testing tracker before writing anything. We do not publish a hands-on score for a product until our testing team has completed the full testing steps for that item.
Scores
All scores use a five-point scale with 5 as the maximum, written as X / 5. The scale is: 5 excellent, 4 good, 3 adequate, 2 poor, 1 very poor. Hands-on scores use the full 1 to 5 scale. We explain the score and the criteria relevant to the product in the review body.
Authorship
Every review, buying guide, and comparison table carries the name and on-site author page of the editor who wrote it. We do not use anonymous bylines.
Updates
When we learn something new about a tested product, we update the review and add a dated note. If a supplier changes the item, the affected comparisons are reassessed and any new test is identified by date.
