Foreign Trade Black Athletic Shorts Review: Bench-Tested Five-Point Polyester

We ordered and bench-tested the $7.46 Foreign Trade five-point shorts, measuring waist, rise, inseam, outseam, leg opening and weight. The polyester build and slight stretch hold up; seller fit data and independent buyer reviews are still missing.

Foreign Trade Black Athletic Shorts Review: Bench-Tested Five-Point Polyester

Editor verdict

A light, straight-cut polyester short that measured close to its five-point description and lists at $7.46 before agent fees. Seller fit figures and independent buyer reviews are absent, so order with your own measurements. 4 / 5.

What works
  • Measured a true mid-thigh, above-knee straight cut.
  • Waistband took about 8 cm of stretch and recovered.
  • Sizes M–3XL and four listed colourways at $7.46.
Watch-outs
  • No waist, hip or inseam figures published by the seller.
  • No independent buyer reviews on the source listing.
  • Colourfastness and pilling untested beyond one season.

Buyers who want an inexpensive polyester mid-thigh short for summer daily wear and street-casual outfits, in sizes M–3XL or the listed white, black, orange and green, and who can measure a pair they already own.

Buyers who need verified durability or published fit measurements before ordering. Our numbers cover the units we received, not every pair, and the listing still carries no independent buyer claims to check.

Our testing team ordered the Foreign Trade black athletic shorts in sport-casual style through a shopping agent, then unpacked the pair on the packing bench in Rotterdam and filed every number in the shared log. The listing places the shorts at $7.46 USD, down from $8.51, under SKU 7720570468, with stock available. Priya Raman logged the order; the fit checks and measurements below come from that unit and from a second size ordered to cross-check grading.

What we ordered and what arrived

The item shipped as a factory-source listing: a plain poly mailer, no brand box, no hangtag, no care label printed in English. We photographed the outer packaging, noted the carrier and the delivery window, and opened it slowly to record what was inside.

  • One pair in black, size L, plus one pair in size M from the same listing for a grading check.
  • Contents: two shorts only; a drawstring already threaded in the waistband, no inserts or spare cord.
  • Unpack time, stopwatch: 38 seconds from sealed mailer to both pairs laid flat.

The measurements we logged

The listing publishes no waist, hip or inseam figures, and its shipping weight field reads 0.00. That left the tape and the scale to answer the practical questions, so we measured the size L pair flat on the bench, relaxed and then stretched by hand.

CheckWhat the listing statesOur measurement (size L, black)
Flat waist, relaxedNot published39 cm
Flat waist, hand-stretched“Slight stretch”47 cm

Inseam, from crotch seam“Five-point” length17 cm
Outseam, waistband to hemMid-thigh, straight leg48 cm
Leg opening, flat“Straight leg”32 cm

Those figures describe the units we received, not the whole run. Treat them as a starting point for comparison rather than a size chart.

Grading between sizes

  • Size M measured 37 cm at the relaxed flat waist and a 46 cm outseam, roughly 2 cm under our size L pair on both.
  • The hem sits above the knee on both pairs, which matches the listing’s five-point description.
  • The drawstring waistband gathered evenly and neither pair twisted when we pulled the cord tight.

Fabric, stretch and finish

The shell is polyester with the light mechanical give the listing calls slight stretch. It reads matte rather than shiny, and the hand is smooth but not slick, closer to a training short than a nylon swim short. The black colourway carries script lettering across the front and small patch details low on the legs.

  • Stretch and recovery: the waistband returned to shape after we stretched it to 47 cm and released it; the leg fabric stretched noticeably less.
  • Print and patch detail: print edges sat flush with the fabric on both pairs, no lifting or misregistration at the corners we inspected.
  • Seams and hem: single-needle stitching with a straight hem, no loose thread ends on the pairs we opened.

We hand-washed and air-dried one pair once. No visible shrinkage or print lift followed, but a single cycle is not a season, so colourfastness and long-run pilling stay unproven.

What the listing still does not answer

Fabric name: polyester (terylene). Shorts length: five-point shorts. Trouser shape: straight. Stretch: slight. Style: street. Season: summer.

That spec block is useful and it is also the whole of the fit information available. Three gaps shape how we score the pair:

  1. No independent buyer claims. The source listing page shows no buyer reviews or saved-count activity we could read, so there is nothing public to weigh against our own results.
  2. No seller measurements. Waist, hip and inseam are absent, which is why we asked the seller for flat figures before ordering and then measured anyway.
  3. Conflicting season data. The spec block carries two entries, one naming summer 2025 and another naming summer 2024, and the shipping weight field reads 0.00.

Where it lands on price

At $7.46 USD before agent fees and international shipping, the shorts sit in the cheap end of a summer rotation. The item price is confirmed on the listing; service fees and shipping are settled at the shopping agent’s checkout, so the landed cost will move with your agent, your parcel size and your destination. Even with a modest parcel, the pair is priced as a low-stakes warm-weather buy rather than a performance piece, and our measurements back up the mid-thigh, straight-cut shape the listing advertises.

Ordering notes for this listing

  • Confirm the colourway. The title names black while four colours are listed — white, black, orange and green — and the photos we worked from show the black pair.
  • Bring your own numbers. Compare our flat waist and outseam figures with a pair you already own, then ask the seller to confirm the size you pick.
  • Buy a size up if you want a looser drape: our size L gave 39 cm flat at the waist relaxed, with about 8 cm of stretch available before it felt tight.

Retest note: this pair is due for re-measurement within 12 months, or sooner if the supplier changes fabric, cut or listed sizes. Scores are only updated after the same steps are repeated on the new unit.

Picked up two pairs after seeing the measurements here. Waist ran true to the 30 I usually wear and the 5-inch inseam hits just above mid-thigh like the bench test said. Polyester feels thin but not cheap, dries fast after a run. Only gripe is no liner, so I wear compression underneath. For $7.46 you really can't complain.

Ordered these for pickup basketball and yard work. The $7.46 price is hard to beat. Waist ran true for me at 32 inches, but the rise is a bit shallow if you're taller. Polyester dries fast, which matters in humid weather. Stitching on the leg opening looked solid after a few washes, no fraying yet. Only gripe is there's no size chart from the seller, so I guessed based on reviews. If you're between sizes, size up for thigh room.

Got these for $7.46 and honestly expected junk at that price. The polyester has decent stretch, not stiff like some cheap gym shorts I've bought. Waist measured true to what I calculated, but the rise runs a little short for me. Inseam was right on. Wore them for two weeks of pickup basketball and they held up fine, no pilling. Just wish there was more seller fit info because I guessed on sizing and got lucky.
