Celine All-Over Print Green Shorts: A Week in a $5.22 Low-Rise Pair

Our XL unit measured loose and low-rise, printed across the surface, and held its colour through two 30°C washes. The listing still contradicts itself on print versus solid, so confirm the pattern before ordering.

Celine All-Over Print Green Shorts: A Week in a $5.22 Low-Rise Pair
Priya Raman Hands-on score 4.2 / 5

Editor verdict

At $5.22 the green print pair is a workable loose summer short with a genuinely adjustable drawstring waist, but the low rise, the missing flat measurements and the listing's solid-versus-print conflict keep it off a higher score.

What works
  • Print survived two 30°C washes with no bleed or cracking
  • Drawstring gives roughly 8 cm of real waist adjustment
  • $5.22 buys seven sizes M–5XL and three colourways
Watch-outs
  • Listing pattern field says solid while the title says all-over print
  • No flat waist or hip measurements published; 1–2 cm tolerance
  • Low rise with no belt loops or structured waistband

Buyers after a cheap, loose, low-rise polyester short for hot-weather casual and sport wear who will confirm the pattern and their waist measurement with the seller first.

Anyone needing a belted or structured waist, a fitted cut, verified long-term durability, or confirmed solid-colour stock, and buyers who want independent buyer reviews before ordering.

We ordered the Celine all-over print green shorts (SKU 7717465313) through a shopping agent, unpacked them on the packing bench in our Rotterdam testing room, and wore them through a week of warm weather. The reference price on the page we ordered from was $5.22, down from $5.96, listed as in stock in sizes M through 5XL and three colourways: apricot, black and green.

This is a cheap pair of shorts with a very specific shape: polyester, loose and straight-legged, low-rise, closed by a drawstring instead of a belt. Our test focused on whether that shape actually works on a body, whether the print matches the title, and whether the fabric claims survive a washing machine.

How we tested

Our testing team ordered one pair in green, size XL, and timed the order-to-doorstep window with a stopwatch. On arrival we photographed the outer packaging, opened it slowly and logged the contents: one pair of shorts, no tags, no care label, no extras. We then measured the flat garment with a tape, wore the shorts for four days of the working week, checked the drawstring under tension, and machine washed them twice at 30°C before air drying and re-measuring. Print registration was checked at the side seams, where all-over patterns usually misalign.

What arrived and what our tape measured

These are the numbers from our single XL unit. They are a guide, not a guarantee, and they do not replace the seller's own measurements, which are not published.

Fabric, print and build

The main fabric is polyester, described by the listing as breathable, machine washable, wear-resistant, wrinkle-free, stain-resistant and colourfast, with standard thickness and slight stretch. In the hand it feels like a thin, dry synthetic with a faint mechanical give, closer to a sports short than a tailored one. It is not a fabric that will feel cool in still, humid air, but it moves air when you are walking.

The green version arrived printed, with a repeating light-coloured monogram-style motif running across the surface, a solid green waistband and a matching drawstring. Pattern alignment at the side seams was better than we expected at this price: no obvious broken repeat, no smeared edges. The waistband is a plain elastic casing with the cord threaded through, and the cord ends are simple knotted tips rather than metal or plastic aglets.

Listing pattern field: solid colour. Product title: all-over print. The two descriptions on the same page do not agree.

Our unit was printed, matching the title, but the contradiction in the listing is real and worth resolving with the seller before you pay.

Fit and the low-rise drawstring waist

The cut is genuinely loose and straight, with room through the thigh and no taper at the hem. The waist sits low, below the natural waistline, so the shorts hang from the hips rather than gripping. That means the drawstring does the structural work: with the cord cinched, our XL held position through walking and stairs without riding up or twisting.

There are no belt loops and no fly, so there is nothing to adjust except the cord. If you are between sizes or your hip and waist measurements pull in different directions, this is an awkward shape, and the listing offers no flat measurements to help you choose. Buyers who want a fitted or high-waisted short should look elsewhere; this one is built to be loose.

Wash, wrinkle and colour check

Two machine washes at 30°C, air dried both times. The green did not visibly bleed into the white print, the print did not crack or lift at the seams, and the fabric came out of the drum with only light creasing that hung out overnight. The wrinkle-free and colourfast claims held up in our check. Drawstring cord ends stayed knotted. We did not test stain resistance deliberately and cannot confirm the wear-resistance claim from a one-week sample, nor can we speak to how the elastic waistband behaves after a full summer of use.

Value at $5.22

At this price, the maths is simple: you are buying a disposable-feeling but competent summer short in seven sizes and three colourways. The fabric is thin, the finishing is basic, and there is no branding on the labels, but the print reads cleanly and the drawstring does what it claims. Compare to a plain supermarket sports short at a similar price and you are paying mostly for the motif and the loose cut, which is a fair trade at $5.22.

What we could not confirm

The source listing we referenced carries no independent buyer claims, and we found no public buyer reports to weigh against our own sample. The seller publishes no flat waist, hip or inseam measurements, only a 1–2 cm tolerance note. Long-term durability, elastic recovery and true breathability in high humidity remain unverified by anyone outside the listing and by our single unit. Treat the fabric-benefit wording as catalogue copy until your own unit proves it.

If you order, ask the seller for flat waist and hip measurements on your size and a photo of the exact colourway you are buying. That single step resolves both open questions on this listing.
